Frequently, patients of all services injured during Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Noble Eagle arrive at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) and other National Capital Region (NCR) military medical centers for treatment without the most basic necessities. The Pentagon Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, has established Project “We Care” to join with the American Red Cross, WRAMC, and other NCR military medical centers in seeking donations for our injured service members.
On September 3, 2003, the WRAMC Red Cross office announced the need for the following NEW items: medium-sized boxers, S/M/L/XL sizes of sweat shirts/shorts/pants, sports bras, women’s underwear, tee shirts, jackets, and shower shoes. Other items accepted include monetary donations, backpacks, disposable cameras, note-cards/postcards with stamps, prepackaged snacks, and phone cards.
As of May 2008, there is still a need for these items and donations are still being accepted.
